It’s not too common that a video game gets a sequel a full decade after release, but it’s not unheard of either. In fact, it’s already past that milestone for Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls 6, with the latter still not expected for a few years. It’s perhaps for this reason that Capcom fans still believe thatDragon’s Dogma 2 could happen.
With the passing ofDragon Dogma’s anniversary, this potential has been on many minds.Dragon’s Dogmaleft its mark on open-world games, as well as Capcom itself, and a sequel seems like a no-brainer to fans. And, if the stars align, it seems like Capcom may have teased a sequel itself.
Leaker Reveals Dragon's Dogma 2's Engine
To celebrate the Dragon's Dogma 10th anniversary, Capcom has released new artwork, a new logo (similar to what it did for the 5th anniversary), launched a new website, and began a fresh Dragon’s Dogma Instagram account. The latter two are perhaps the most curious announcements so far, as why launch a website and an Instagram account for a game that is a decade old (even if it came to Switch relatively recently, as well as gotten its own Netflix series).
Perhaps the most convincing evidence for Dragon’s Dogma 2 being in development is a recent tweet on the official account by Capcom. As seen above, it writes that “as we look to the future, we’ll also reflect on ten years of endless adventures.” Part of the anniversary celebration is about this reflection, so to focus on the future as well would suggest these are two separate elements: the future and the past. And, while it will always be beloved, Dragon’s Dogma doesn’t have much of a known future as it stands (though more adaptations are certainly possible).
