A few months ago, Activision confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was going to be the franchise’s 2022 release. It came as no surprise due to the popularity of Modern Warfare 2019, which has paved the way for Infinity Ward to make a sequel. Apart from the October 28 release date, we have not been given any more official information. However, thanks to leaks, speculation has come to light which hint at what Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 could look like. This includes the maps that could be in multiplayer, which may feature as points of interest in Warzone 2. Also, the franchise will reportedly make its return to Steam.. Now, Infinity Ward is getting ready to lay the rumors to rest. It plans to officially reveal Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on June 8, and here is everything you need to know.
The announcement was revealed through a live-action trailer. Here, fans are given a glimpse on what we can expect from Infinity Ward’s upcoming entry. Although we didn’t see any gameplay, the trailer itself has the gritty feel Call of Duty fans know and love. Also, we got to see close up shots of Task Force 141 preparing to fight. In the trailer, the team leaves the van and is met with smoke and explosions, a typical day in the world of Modern Warfare.
There are just a few days to go until we get to learn more about Modern Warfare 2. The game will have many franchise firsts. Mainly, it will be the first Call of Duty to have a two year life cycle. Who knows what other surprises Activision and Infinity Ward have up their sleeves. Make sure to set your alarm for 10 AM PT on June 8 to get your first official look at where Modern Warfare 2 will take us.
