A sequel to 2019's Modern Warfare, fans are hoping that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 can once again breathe new life into the military shooter franchise, both in terms of yearly CoD releases and its Warzone battle royale spin-off. Using Modern Warfare 2's updated engine as a base, Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is set to release just a few weeks after the mainline entry, giving fans plenty of time to prepare.

The first Call of Duty: Warzone released around five months after Modern Warfare, which ensured that anyone who had been playing Modern Warfare since release already had an arsenal full of upgraded, decked-out weapons.
