A new job listing has suggested that Bungie could be planning to develop a Destiny animated show.
The company is currently hiring for a ‘Senior Producer – Linear Media’ role, which would see the successful candidate taking control of the “Destiny IP approval process for all externally-developed linear media stories”.
Notably, in the ‘required skills’ section, the application lists “experience with licensed products, and/or animation, scripted television development or current programming”.
The application also asks that candidates have a “Strong understanding of Destiny and its world”.
This appears to be another step in Bungie’s ongoing push toward transmedia projects.
In February it was reported that Derick Tsai, a director who previously worked at Riot Games on League Of Legends animated shorts had joined Bungie.
Tsai now serves as the Head of Development for Destiny Universe Transmedia, according to his Linkedin page.
It also states that his remit includes: “leading projects and telling stories that extend the Destiny IP into new mediums including Film, TV, Animation, Books, Comics, and Audio formats.”
While speaking on the recent acquisition of Bungie for $3.6 billion, Sony chief financial officer Hiroki Totoki also revealed that the Destiny developer is working on a “major new IP” and that the company plans to harness Bungie’s experience in the live service space going forward.
Bungie is also in the process of recruiting a creative director to work on a new third-person action game.
The studio hasn’t publicly announced what it’s working on beyond Destiny 2, but it has said on multiple occasions that it plans to bring at least one new IP to market by 2025.
