UK energy provider British Gas has cautioned consumers on leaving video game systems on rest mode, referring to them as "vampire devices".
Alongside laptops, TVs, and so forth, the company notes these electronics on standby are part of the reason as to why utility costs maybe high.
As reported by Eurogamer, the company said that to aid consumers in saving money, it recommends turning them off when not in use.
The report goes on to say the advisory warning has received criticism, as it allegedly asserts that the responsibility for energy bills falls upon consumers.
Additionally, Eurogamer notes that British Gas' cautionary advice comes as the country is seeing an energy price hike.
While its energy service providers are seeing growing revenues.
