AllBoruto has ever wanted to do was step out of Naruto's shadow. As a world-saving hero and leader of a major world power, the Seventh Hokage has left big sandals to fill. Despite Boruto's repeated attempts to distance himself from his famous father though, the latest chapter of his manga proves that he'd actually be much better suited for the role than Naruto ever was.
Ever since Boruto was implanted with the Karma of Momoshiki, his future has been uncertain. The villainous Ōtsutsuki has made it his mission to convert Boruto's body into his bit by bit every time Boruto taps in Momoshiki's power. Unfortunately, the temptation of accessing that tremendous power has been too great to pass up, and that's true now more than ever. When Kawaki goes to find Code and end him, Boruto naturally follows him. In the fight that follows, Boruto taps into Karma to try and beat Code, but loses control of himself. By the time Naruto and Shikamaru arrive, it's too late. In a brief moment of lucidity, Boruto tells Kawaki to go through with their plan. Without hesitation, Kawaki kills Boruto, to Naruto's utter horror.

Now, in chapter 67 of Boruto readers see the fallout of that explosive last moment. Code runs off, leaving Naruto in shock and Shikamaru calculating their next move. He wonders what they're going to do about Kawaki now that he's a murderer. Though Naruto is hesitant, Shikamaru is quick to remind him that they're talking about someone who killed his son.
