The upcoming movie Being Mortal has shut down production, reportedly due to a complaint against its star Bill Murray. The film will also star Aziz Ansari and mark the Parks and Recreation actor's directorial debut. The movie is based on the nonfiction book Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End by Atul Gawande, which was also made into an Emmy-nominated documentary in 2015.
The film, which Ansari has also written and produced, tackles hospice care and the end of life, and will also star Seth Rogen. Production began on March 28 and was halfway through principal photography before it was abruptly halted due to a complaint on set. Many productions as of late have had to manage allegations with its leading actors, ranging from Jeff Garlin departing The Goldbergs after repeated claims of verbal and physical conduct that were deemed inappropriate, to Frank Langella being fired from Netflix's upcoming limited series The Fall of the House of Usher after an investigation concluded that he was involved in sexual harassment against a female co-star. Ansari himself has recently faced misconduct accusations of his own, but it seems that apparently it was Murray's behavior that caused Being Mortal's shut down.

In an exclusive, Deadline reports that Murray is being investigated for a complaint made against him for inappropriate behavior and production for Being Mortal has been officially suspended moving forward. Production has been stopped since Monday with the complaint filed the previous week. The specific details of the complaint are not known and it is unclear what will result from the investigation as of now.
