WhatsApp has just announced a couple of new updates for the coming months. Your basic chat app is going to get a whole lot more interesting, especially if you engage in a lot of group interactions. The biggest addition is the Communities feature that finally makes it to WhatsApp after years of anticipation. Along with that, WhatsApp is also bringing a couple of additional intuitive features to make the whole chatting experience more exciting. If you use WhatsApp a lot, be prepared to spend even more of your valuable time on this app in the future.
Communities comes as the biggest feature update to WhatsApp in a long time. With Community, WhatsApp wants to help organizations like schools, local clubs, and non-profit organizations to coordinate their conversations in a better way. “Communities on WhatsApp will enable people to bring together separate groups under one umbrella with a structure that works for them. That way people can receive updates sent to the entire Community and easily organize smaller discussion groups on what matters to them,” says WhatsApp.
“Communities will also contain powerful new tools for admins, including announcement messages that are sent to everyone and control over which groups can be included,” adds WhatsApp. “We think Communities will make it easier for a school principal to bring all the parents of the school together to share must-read updates and set up groups about specific classes, extracurricular activities, or volunteer needs.”
Other than Communities, WhatsApp is also bringing a couple of new features that could help them communicate in groups. These features will start rolling out on the coming weeks.
