Beyond Good & Evil 2 may have been first announced way back in 2017, but an insider with early development footage claims that the game "still needs a few more years" before its fit for release.
This news comes from an article for Exputer written by industry insider Tom Henderson, who claims to have been given both screenshots and video footage of Beyond Good and Evil 2 in its current state. According to Henderson, the title looks a lot more incomplete than what was shown off by Ubisoft in December of 2018 and suggests that the game may have undergone a complete reset since.

Henderson also claims that the game will allow players to customize their own characters and even pick from a range of different species such as sharks and pandas. It's worth noting that none of what Henderson has claimed has been confirmed by Ubisoft, but he does have a proven track record of accurate insider info about the publisher's titles, more recently revealing Skull & Bones' release date. It's also not too hard to believe either as development on Beyond Good and Evil 2 does seem to have kicked up a notch in recent months.
For example, Henderson also recently claimed that Beyond Good & Evil 2 started undergoing external playtesting in July, claiming that playtesting is much more extensive than the publisher's previous titles. Ubisoft also recently hired Saints Row and World of Warcraft developer Sarah Arellano as Beyond Good & Evil 2's lead writer, suggesting that the game doesn't have that much of a story at the moment either.
If Ubisoft is going to give us an update on the status of Beyond Good & Evil 2, it will probably be during the Ubisoft Forward showcase scheduled to take place next
