In light of the announcement of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast prequel series being delayed indefinitely, stars Josh Gad and Luke Evans shared their thoughts on social media. Reprising their roles as Gaston and LeFou from the 2017 live-action Beauty and the Beast film, both Gad and Evans were signed onto the limited musical series with an eight-episode order, set years before the events of the film. However, the series was recently halted due to scheduling conflicts and delay in creative elements.
The 2017 live-action remake of Disney’s classic Beauty and the Beast, starring Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast, grossed over $1.2 billion worldwide at the box office. Disney had announced a spin-off series focused on the iconic villainous duo due to the monumental success of the live-action film, which was slated to be developed and written by Gad and Once Upon a Time creators, Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis. Alongside Gad and Evans, Hawkeye star, Fra Fee, and The Walking Dead: World Beyond star, Jelani Alladin, were also set to star in the series.
