The 4.1 update for Battlefield 2042 recently went live across all platforms, notably paring down the 128-player Breakthrough playlist to 64 players. In the lead up to launch, Electronic Arts and developer DICE billed Battlefield 2042's 128-player Breakthrough mode as one of the military shooter's most defining experiences. Many also argued the doubled player count caused far too much chaos, reducing the effects of tactical gameplay that Breakthrough often demanded.
