Bank Holidays August 2022: Banks will remain closed for 13 days in the month of August due to festivals and other occasions may it be state specific or national. It can be noted that these 13 days of bank holidays in August do not include second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays. While along with second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays, the month of August will see 18 offs. Also, know that online or internet banking will remain operative 24x7. It can be known that the list of bank holidays is released by the Reserve Bank of India on its official website.
Banking activities like depositing money, updating passbook, transferring amount and much more requires you to visit your nearest bank branch. Therefore, making it important for you to know about the days when the bank will remain shut. As per the information provided by the RBI, the bank holidays in June fall under three categories- Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act; Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday; and Banks' Closing of Accounts. 1. August 1, 2022: Banks will remain closed only in Gangtok due to the occasion of Drukpa Tshe-zi.
2. August 8, 2022: Banking operations will remain shut in Jammu and Srinagar due to Muharram (Ashoora).
3. August 9, 2022: Banks will remain closed in most parts of the country due to Muharram (Ashoora) except for in Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Gangtok, Guwahati, Imphal, Jammu, Kochi, Panaji, Shillong, Shimla, Srinagar, and Thiruvananthapuram.
4. August 11, 2022: Due to the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, banking operations will remain shut in Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Dehradun, Jaipur, and Shimla.
