Larian Studios has announced that Baldur's Gate 3 will add the bard class and the gnome race as part of the Patch 8 update, which will go live today. The most recent addition to Baldur's Gate 3 was the barbarian class, which was added as part of the Patch 7 update in February.
The bard class has been part of Dungeons & Dragons since the earliest days of the game. In D&D 5e (the current iteration of the game), bards are a powerful primary spellcaster class, with access to a number of buffs, healing spells, and magic that can control and deceive the minds of enemies. The bard was a highly-requested class for Baldur's Gate 3, as it has found a new fanbase in the 5e era, especially among the more light-hearted players. The gnome is also a long-running part of D&D and has found a new fanbase in 5e, thanks to their magical aptitude and humorous personalities.
