Apple iPhone has once again turned out to be one of the most reliable and durable phones! An iPhone has recently been reported to be in fine working order even after being dumped in a river for more than 10 months. A man recently found his lost iPhone that he dropped into the River Wye near Cinderford, Gloucestershire in August 2021. Much to his joy and surprise, the device was working fine. As reported by BBC, Owain Davies dropped his iPhone into the River Wye during a bachelor party. He gave it up as lost forever.
Almost 10 months later, Miguel Pacheco of Drybook, Gloucestershire found the lost device while he was canoeing in the same river. With no hope of restarting it again, he still took it home, dried it out, and found that it was working. he shared the photos of same on social media to find its rightful owner.
Pacheco is quoted by BBC as saying, "I didn't think it was any good. It was full of water.” He put his effort into restarting the phone as he thought that the device may have “Sentimental things.” He told BBC, "I know if I lost my phone, I'd have a lot of pictures of my children, I know I'd want that back." Pacheco dried out the device with an air compressor and put it into an airing cupboard for an entire night to dry. Next morning he put it on the charger and to his surprise, it restarted. The screensaver has a picture of a man and woman with the date August 13 — the date that the device fell into the water.
Pacheco then posted images to Facebook to find the device’s owner and eventually, friends of Davies and his fiancee Fiona Gardner recognized the images and contacted him. The phone has been returned back to its owner Davies.
