Assassin's Creed Origins is one of the most beloved entries in Ubisoft's long-running action adventure franchise. The 2017 open-world game acted as a soft-reboot to the franchise when it launched after a two-year break for the series following the release of Assassin's Creed Syndicate in 2015, and transitioned it into a full RPG gameplay style similar to games like The Witcher 3. Late last year, Ubisoft promised a performance patch that would bring Assassin's Creed Origins to 60 frames-per-second on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, and now it appears that this patch is gearing up for release.
Assassin's Creed Origins is the tenth mainline installment in Ubisoft's huge franchise, bringing the series to ancient Egypt where players take the role of Bayek of Siwa, who discovers the secrets of the Assassin Brotherhood (known then as the Hidden Ones) while on a mission to avenge his son's murder. The game was developed by Ubisoft Montreal and debuted many new gameplay innovations for the series, including a new combat system, larger and more densely filled open-worlds, and new stealth mechanics including using Bayek's eagle, Senu, for scouting.
Assassin's Creed Infinity Is Not Free to Play
With the release of a performance enhancement patch for Assassin's Creed Odyssey in 2021, which was released to tie into the Assassin's Creed Valhalla crossover DLC, fans began a campaign asking Ubisoft to release a similar patch for its predecessor, Assassin's Creed Origins. Ubisoft confirmed in late 2021 that it was developing a patch to bring Assassin's Creed Origins to 60 frames-per-second across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. It did not clarify when this patch would release, however.
