Ubisoft has revealed Assassin’s Creed Mirage, releasing a cinematic trailer and announcing a release window of 2023. The game stars Basim as a newly inducted assassin, a Hidden One, stalking his prey in Baghdad. Assassin’s Creed Mirage is looking very much like a return to form, giving proper nods to the original.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is Basim’s story. The character first showed up in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla as a seasoned assassin. Mirage tells the tale on how he got to that point, starting from the day he removed his ring finger — a traditional method of the Hidden Ones.
The story is set 20 years before the events of Valhalla. In the game, Basim meets with his new mentor, Roshan, voiced by Emmy-winning actor Shohreh Aghdashloo. And since Mirage does go back to the franchise’s roots, you should expect familiar methods in hunting and killing foes. Social stealth seems to be back (that sneaky bench kill), along with the standard stalking and parkour.
There are some new things, however. Basim will have access to new tools such as a smoke bomb that releases red smoke and what appears to be poison traps. No doubt there will be more new additions not seen in the trailer. There also appears to be some supernatural element, which is intriguing.
For the most part, the details and release window are what folks likely want to know with Assassin’s Creed Mirage. And I won’t have to break things down for you; Ubisoft already did. The publisher/developer released its own trailer breakdown video on its YouTube channel. So, if you want to spend 15 minutes pouring over every little detail, then check it out.
“In Assassin’s Creed Mirage, you are Basim, a cunning street thief with nightmarish visions, seeking answers and justice,”
