While many gamers have been speculating about the positives and negatives of this acquisition, popular Twitch streamer Asmongold believes that it could be just what the World of Warcraft brand needs to stay on top in the MMORPG genre.
In a tweet from January 18, Asmongold revealed that he had just found out about Microsoft purchasing Activision Blizzard. Like many gamers, he admitted that he had not seen the acquisition coming. “Waking up to find out Activision-Blizzard got bought by Microsoft wasn't what I expected, wow,” he said. He added that he hoped this acquisition could benefit the gaming community moving forward.

In addition to tweeting about the acquisition as a whole, he went into detail about its possible implications for the World of Warcraft community during a recent live stream. While not many details were known, the streamer hoped this deal would potentially see the game come to consoles and mobile devices. According to Asmongold, he believed that the MMORPG needed to branch out beyond the PC audience to continue to advance.
Besides advocating that the game should come to console and mobile devices, Asmongold pointed out that other MMOs are already doing this.
