With The Flash season 9 officially set to be its final season, Arrowverse fans are mourning and celebrating the DC TV show's upcoming end. The Arrowverse is in many ways reaching its final years as a franchise. Since 2012, the Arrowverse franchise has been a major component of The CW's original programming, consisting of several iconic DC Comics superheroes coming to life on the screen. 2022 was a massive shake-up for the DC TV franchise, as The CW canceled not one but three shows: Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, and Naomi.

The network is also premiering a new DC TV show in the form of Gotham Knights, set in its own continuity. With The Flash season 9 marking the show as the longest-running series in the Arrowverse, there had been a lot of speculation as to whether or not the Grant Gustin-led drama would head into its final installment or not. After months of waiting, The CW confirmed this week that The Flash season 9 will officially end when it returns in 2023.
