While this new content gives players a lot to look forward to over the coming days, there was also some sad news for long-time fans of the battle royale.
In a tweet from February 4, Rodney Reece, Principal Designer for Apex Legends, unveiled some disappointing news for fans. According to the developer, it was his last day at Respawn Entertainment. In addition to announcing his departure from the company, he cited the support of the community over the years. “You were always in my mind and made me work harder,” Reece said in reference to gamers playing the battle royale. While he was leaving the company, the developer revealed that he looked forward to still being a fan.

In addition to Reece, it was revealed that Dave Osei, Lead Level Designer onApex Legends, was departing from Respawn Entertainment. This news came via February 4 tweet from the developer where he announced that it was his last day at the company as well. While working on the battle royale, Osei managed to accomplish a lot, eventually being promoted from Senior Level Designer to Lead Level Designer. In the message from the developer, he noted that he was proud of what he worked on at the company. In addition, he thanked Respawn and the millions of gamers that play Apex Legends.
The departure of these developers is significant news for Apex Legends, as both Reece and Osei left an indelible impact on the battle royale.
