The latest splash of creativity to wash ashore in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a shot-for-shot recreation of the opening minutes of Pokemon Red & Blue. The video opens, as the game does, with «Ash» waking up and heading over to Professor Oak's (or in this case, Professor Hardwood). The video includes sound effects from Pokemon Red & Blue and dialogue that reads like dialogue from the original games, albeit with an Animal Crossing twist. Ash even does battle with Hardwood's grandson, as the two «villager trainers» (and eternal rivals) exchange blows between their starter Pokemon/villagers.
Little touches are what makes this video stand out. Using the Switch console in Ash's room, the town being called Wallet Town, and a nod to sea bass are some great little elements that showcase some real creativity and attention.
