Disney has announced a Disney & Marvel Games showcase, which is set to take place in September and will feature the first look at Amy Hennig‘s Marvel game.
The event, which will be hosted by Kinda Funny’s Blessing Adeoye Jr. will take place live from the D23 expo on Friday, September 9 at 1 PM PT /9 PM BST.
The showcase will include content from Disney & Pixar Games, Marvel Games, Lucasfilm Games, and 20th Century Games.
That’s in addition to “all-new announcements, fans can expect new reveals from titles including Disney Dreamlight Valley, Marvel’s Midnight Suns, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and a sneak peek at the upcoming Marvel ensemble game from Skydance New Media,” Disney said in a press release.
The Marvel game is being helmed by Amy Hennig, former Naughty Dog creative director and one of the main forces behind the Uncharted series.
In a statement earlier this year announcing the game from Skydance New Media, Hennig said: “I can’t imagine a better partner than Marvel for our first game”.
She continued: “The Marvel Universe epitomizes all the action, mystery and thrills of the pulp adventure genre that I adore and lends itself perfectly to an interactive experience.
“It’s an honor to be able to tell an original story with all the humanity, complexity, and humor that makes Marvel characters so enduring and to enable our players to embody these heroes that they love.”
This follows the news in May that Todd Stashwick had joined Skydance New Media, following the two working together on EA’s cancelled Star Wars: Project Ragtag.
Stashwick confirmed his involvement in the Marvel project on Twitter, writing: “Excited to share some very cool news! I’m thrilled to be part of this team and writing in this amazing universe!…”
