American Idol season 20 country music singer HunterGirl is in awe of the fact that her original song, which she performed on the Top 20 episode of the show, is climbing the charts. HunterGirl is a 23-year-old music therapist who is originally from Gruetli-Laager, Tennessee, who comes from a military family, including her grandfather and great-grandfather. HunterGirl, whose full name is Hunter Wolkonowski, works with veterans to turn their experiences in war into songs. She shared that it helps them to deal with PTSD and is a healing process.
HunterGirl has been a frontrunner in American Idol season 20 since her Nashville audition, when she impressed the judges, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan so much that they awarded her with one of the three platinum tickets of the season. Luke even went so far as to say that HunterGirl was his favorite female country voice that he has heard in five years of the competition. HunterGirl sailed through Hollywood Week and easily made it into the Top 24. For her Top 20 performance, she sang her original song, «Heartbreak Down.» In her package, she shared, «Songwriting is a huge part of my life, and I'm getting to do an original song of mine this next round. I definitely think that sharing your life with people can help them through theirs. And so, that's what I'm dedicating my life to... singing songs for the people that need them.»
