AMD has announced that it will showcase its B650 and B650E motherboards on October 4. This will be part of a “Meet the Experts” presentation featuring speakers from ASRock, MSI, Gigabyte, and Biostar. We can expect to see speakers discuss the details for each of their motherboards. This event will go live roughly a week after the launch of AMD’s X670/X670E motherboards, as well as its new Ryzen 7000 processors.
The B650/B650E platforms are set to be the more budget-friendly motherboards for AMD’s Ryzen 7000 CPUs. In comparison, the X670/X670E platforms are going to be quite expensive, and most gamers likely won’t need the extra bells and whistles. B650/B650E should end up being the more sensible options in the long run. As for when it could release, that’s a bit unclear for now. There was a two month gap between the X670 announcement and eventual release date confirmation. We’ll likely see B650 and B650E boards launch this year though.
As far as the differences between AMD’s B650 and the B650E motherboards go, there’s not much we know right now. These motherboards will retain the core features present in the X670 lineup. These include exclusive DDR5 memory and PCIe 5.0 support to at least the primary graphics card slot.
B650/B650E will lose out on some minor features that help to bring the cost down. But as for the differences between the two, it’s hard to say right now. AMD should clear this up in its presentation, where we can hopefully get a better idea of base specs. As always, we should expect motherboard manufacturers to produce a range of options for those who need more and better platform features.
The X670 lineup is set to release alongside AMD’s Ryzen 7000 processors on September 27.
