AMD is reportedly bringing back its Ryzen 3000G APUs based on the 12nm Zen+ architecture in China for the low-end PC market.
Based on reports from Chinese Board Channel Forums, it looks like AMD is resuming production of its old Ryzen 3000G APUs to meet the demand of the low-end PC market. These low-end APUs will be sold as a bundle with a compatible AM4 motherboard in the same price category which might include A320 and B450 series since those can be found in abundance in the retail segment.
As for why AMD is planning to resume production, it is said that sales of low-end motherboards in China have recently gained a lot of traction and to further boost it, the company is working with its partners to deliver more entry-level options such as the Ryzen 3000G APUs. The report states that AMD will be producing around 30,000 Ryzen 3000G chips exclusively for the Chinese market.
The lineup includes the AMD Ryzen 5 3400G, Ryzen 3 3200G, and the Athlon 3000 series which will be priced very attractively way below the sub $100 US range. This will make for some very nice entry-level builds despite the CPU and GPU architecture being much older than what we have now.
Codenamed Picasso, the AMD Ryzen & Athlon 3000G family makes use of a 12nm process node & powered by the Zen+ CPU and Vega GPU architecture. This is the 1st generation of Vega iGPUs that are featured on the chips with some slight optimizations compared to the Ryzen 2000G APUs. The Ryzen 5 3400G & Ryzen 3 3200G launched at $149 and $99 US, respectively, but expect the latest prices to be much lower.
The APUs will come bundled with a boxed Wraith Stealth/Spire cooling solution. We can see these APUs making sense for offices and casual home PC uses. You can also equip
