AMD Ready to Move into Next Era of Graphics Card Tech, Confirms Upcoming RDNA 3
Despite the ongoing tech shortages, which have been a plague on the industry pretty much since this graphics generation started in 2020, AMD has seen a significant increase in revenue for 2021. With the possibility of Nvidia's 4000 series arriving in the middle of this year, «team red» has every reason to want to take that leap into the next generation of graphics card technology. With that, it seems that the company is indeed ready to move forward as it announces its next architecture.
In a recent earnings call, Dr. Lisa Su, President and CEO of AMD, has said that RDNA 3 chips are on their way as well as Zen 4 CPUs, and states that the company has dedicated itself to increasing capacity for its products. During the call, executive vice president Devinder Kumar said that revenue for 2021 was $16.4 billion, a 68% increase year-on-year when compared to 2020. Currently, it looks as though RDNA 3 graphics cards are scheduled for some time this year, but at the moment, there is no exact date of when the next gen will arrive.

In general, the call suggests that things are looking up for AMD, with the company saying it has made progress with suppliers and seems confident that it can meet the demands of consumers for this year, all being well. With the RX 6500 XT recently coming out, representing the budget end of the graphics card market, the tech giant did struggle to get the GPU into the hands of consumers as it sold out almost immediately. However, Dr. Su insists that the company will continue to work with partners and to have enough supplies to «satisfy the demand out there.»
