OTT releases: As we approach the first weekend of July, the binge watchers can be excited as some big name movies and shows have dropped into the OTT realm. This week the headliner is Samrat Prithviraj starring Akshay Kumar which makes its OTT debut today, after one month of Box Office exclusive showing. Alongside is Kangana Ranaut’s Dhaakad which failed to impress the fans in its theatrical debut but promises entertaining time for those watching from the comfort of their home. Telugu-language movie Virata Parvam and Kannada film Dear Vikram also made their OTT debut this week. Finally, the Korean mystery series Cafe Minamdang is also releasing on the streaming platforms. After opening to mixed reactions, the historical action drama film has made its way to OTT within a month. The movie is based on the epic poem Prithviraj Raso and portrays the life, achievements and his battle against Muhammad Ghori. The movie stars Akshay Kumar as titular Prithviraj Chauhan alongside Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar who makes her Hindi movie debut. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, Manav Vij, Ashutosh Rana, Sakshi Tanwar and others in supporting roles.
Kangana Ranaut starrer Dhaakad was in news ever since its theatrical release in May and not for good reasons. The movie failed to impress the audience during its Box Office run and collected a total of Rs. 3.77 crore. However, critics did praise her role in the movie. The movie is an action flick where Ranaut plays the role of an International Task Force officer who is sent on a reconnaissance mission in India to capture a mastermind criminal.
