Anyone hoping Hideo Kojima would make another Death Stranding game will be pleased to hear actor Norman Reedus claim it's already in development.
Reedus voiced the lead role in the 2019 original, which went on to sell over 5 million copies spread across PS4, PS5, and PC. As he has a new book coming out, Reedus gave an interview to Leo(Opens in a new window) earlier this week covering all aspects of his career, and inevitably he was asked about Death Stranding.
When asked to explain how he got involved with the project, Reedus first states "We just started the second one." Then in a more detailed follow-up answer about working on the game he said, "It took me maybe two or three years to finish all the MoCap sessions and everything. It takes a lot of work. And then the game came out, and it just won all these awards, and it was a huge thing, so we just started part two of that."
There's no reason to doubt Reedus' claim that he's already involved in the production of Death Stranding 2. Kojima has had plenty of time over the past couple of years, especially with the pandemic, to finalize the story and script for the game.
The original took three years to develop, so we shouldn't expect the second game to appear for quite some time. Hopefully Kojima will at least confirm it's happening now Reedus has let the cat out of the bag.
