Developer Unknown Worlds has all but confirmed that a new Subnautica game is under development. The aquatic survival game launched in 2014 and received a sequel in 2021 with Subnautica: Below Zero. It seems now that the series will get a third installment, or at least a spin off, based on a job listing for a senior narrative designer on the Unknown Worlds website.
"Unknown Worlds is seeking a Senior Narrative Designer to join the team working on the next game in the Subnautica universe," reads the job description. "This person will collaborate closely with the team to tell compelling, dramatic stories in the context of the game experience, while also defining the history and lore of a new science fiction world and its alien inhabitants. This person has a unique opportunity to join the team early in development and help establish the narrative direction for a beloved franchise."

No official statement has been made by the developer about this game – the only proof that development has begun is this job listing. Considering that Unknown Worlds is still hiring resources for the project, you can bet it will be a while till we get any official word on it.
