5 Overrated A24 Horror Movies
Since the company was founded in 2012, A24 is famous for putting out awesome horror movies, like Hereditary (2018) and The Blackcoat's Daughter (2017), along with some films from other genres like Lady Bird (2017) and Mid90s (2018). One thing is for sure: an A24 film is always going to get audiences talking, and the stories are often interesting. Much like Blumhouse, A24 puts out some of the most popular and well-known movies, and chances are that if horror fans are discussing a new release, it's a Blumhouse or A24 film.
While there are some underrated horror movies from A24, there are a few that have gotten a lot of hype that might not be deserved, and these movies can be considered to be fairly overrated.
The Best A24 Films That Are Not Horror Movies
Fans of Ari Aster couldn't wait for his follow-up to 2018's Hereditary. Charlie's tick in Hereditary is just one reason why the movie is so haunting and unsettling, but it's possible to say that Midsommar just doesn't capture the same feeling.
The movie centers around Dani Ardor (Florence Pugh) who is dealing with a family trauma, and that makes Midsommar even more disturbing than Aster's previous film, which is definitely saying something. While the setting of a Swedish festival is intriguing, the movie might not be quite as captivating as its premise suggests. What makes Hereditary such a strong horror film is how it doesn't let up for a second and it forges ahead with its dark plot, shocking audiences while talking about a family's trauma at the same time.
