An unexpected sequel may be in the works for the Nintendo Switch. According to some leaked information, 1-2-Switch, the minigame collection that launched alongside the console back in 2017, is getting a sequel. It is an odd choice for Nintendo, considering the launch title was meant to introduce players to the features of the new machine, specifically the joy-con controllers and the rumble feature.
This information comes from Zippo, a reliable source for Nintendo news and predictions. They posted on their blog earlier this week that Nintendo was in the middle of development on the minigame follow-up. They also shared their thoughts on why Nintendo would make a sequel, stating that the original is “one of the most dull, lifeless, forgettable games” they have ever played.

Players could choose from over 20 minigames with fun things to do like simulating a wild-west duel, a cow-milking competition, sword fighting, a mainly all-hands dance-off, and more. Each of these games allowed players to get comfortable with the feel of the joy-cons, which is strange considering the Wii remote and PlayStation Move controller had been out for ages by 2017. However, almost five years later most people own or are used to the ins and outs of the best-selling console and don’t need a refresher on how to handle the rumble of the joy-cons.
Not to mention the original game currently sits at a 58 score on Metacritic with “generally unfavorable reviews”. Although, it did sell rather well with over 3.18 million copies sold as of December 2019.
