The creator of Legacies has explained how the reappearance of Klaus Mikaelson in the series finale was instrumental in Hope's overall arc. Legacies is the third series in the universe of the Vampire Diaries, following Hope Mikaelsen (Danielle Rose Russell) as she goes to a school for the supernaturally gifted following the death of her father Klaus (Joseph Morgan) in the finale of The Originals. Over Legacies season 1 to 4, Hope has taken after her father, becoming a sort of prickly anti-hero struggling with deep-seated issues.
