Kevin Feige Supports Batgirl Directors After Movie's Shock Cancellation
In wake of Batgirl's cancelation, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has sent an email to directors Adil El Arbi and Billal Fallah, showing his support. After iterating through several creative changes for years, Batgirl was finally on the right track, with up-and-coming directors El Arbi and Fallah helming the movie off a screenplay by Birds of Prey writer Christina Hudson. Leslie Grace led Batgirl as Barbara Gordon, with Michael Keaton and J.K. Simmons attached to reprise their roles as Bruce Wayne/Batman and Commissioner Jim Gordon, respectively. Filming on the movie had wrapped up by March, and until earlier this month, the film was in post-production. But then, Warner Bros. (WB) took fans and industry figures by shock when it announced that Batgirl has been shelved, with no plans to release it theatrically or on HBO Max.
