Derryth Bonecloak is an especially sad character in , a struggling apothecary owner whose abusive husband has suffered a traumatic brain injury and now cannot help run the shop. The player can help her in act one by providing her with some Noblestalk, an especially valuable mushroom she can sell, but when met in her shop in the lower city, she still seems quite lonely and discontented.
Luckily, in the event that Derryth's husband Baelen does not survive his last trip to the Underdark, it is possible to give Derryth a companion in the form of one of the stray cats in Baldur's Gate.
There are many to be found throughout the lower city, but three in particular which can be sent to join Derryth at Bonecloak's Apothecary.
But which of these feline friends is the best match for this lonely dwarf? Barsik is a black-and-white cat that hangs out near Sorcerous Sundries, and speaking to him will reveal that he worships Sharess.
Players may at first believe that this cat has misunderstood the name of the goddess Shar, similar to the kuo-toa of the Underdark, but Sharess is actually the name of a cat goddess in the Forgotten Realms.
