Jack Whitehall (The Afterparty), Paula Pell (Girls5eva), Mark Proksch (What We Do In The Shadows), Julia Duffy (Palm Royale), and Kapil Talwalkar (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist) have been tapped to join cast for Peacock‘s upcoming series adaptation of the 1989 dark comedy movie.
Further details about their characters are still under wraps. This comes five months after the project received an official straight-to-series order from the streamer. “Set in present-day suburbia, the show follows a young couple, who have reluctantly relocated to the husband’s childhood home.
Their world is upended when a new neighbor moves in across the street bringing old secrets of the cul-de-sac to light, and new deadly threats shatter the illusion of their quiet little neighborhood,” reads the show’s official logline.
The Burbs will be led by Emmy winner Keke Palmer (Nope, Password), who has also signed on to serve as an executive producer.
The original movie starred Tom Hanks, Carrie Fisher, Bruce Dern, and Corey Feldman. Despite initially receiving mixed reviews during its theatrical run, the film eventually became a cult classic.
