The DCU movie has found its director. It was announced in December 2024 that a Clayface movie is officially in the works at DC Studios.
The DCU film is being written by Mike Flanagan and is scheduled to be released in 2026. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the DCU Clayface movie will be directed by James Watkins.
Watkins was previously rumored to be one of the names that DC Studios was considering for the movie. J.A. Bayona was also being considered, while rumors of Jeff Wadlow being eyed were floating around at one point but were later to be found untrue.
Watkins made his feature film directorial debut in 2008 with Eden Lake, which stars Michael Fassbender and Kelly Reilly. He made 2012’s The Woman in Black with Daniel Radcliffe before then making 2016’s Bastille Day.
Most recently, Watkins directed the 2024 remake of Speak No Evil with James McAvoy, Mackenzie Davis, Scoot McNairy, and Aisling Franciosi.
