PlayStation 5 users in the UK received quite a treat this week. Sony finally released the ability to auto-upload screenshots and video captures from the console onto the mobile app for UK users. This makes sharing gaming achievements and in-game photos with the rest of the world much easier. The feature will be available to those that have installed this week’s system software update.
For those who may not see this as a praise-worthy feature, it is clear you have never tried to share a simple screenshot from the PS4 or PS5. Before this handy-dandy ability was added, you had to upload your screengrabs to Twitter, or some other service, to have access to them on a mobile device. This process was, for lack of a better term, a pain in the butt. Of course, you could transfer the photos and videos through the console’s USB drive. Again, a tedious process for something as simple as uploading some photos.

Now, this new update will let UK users auto-upload photos and videos straight to the PlayStation app on their mobile device. Those that update their system can go into the Media Gallery app on the console to receive a pop-up asking if they want to enable the auto-upload feature. Once enabled, photos will automatically be sent straight to the PlayStation app. However, they will only stay on there for 14 days, and the ones previously on your system before the update will not automatically carry over.
This feature was previously only available to American console owners, though seems to be slowly making its way across the globe. It will likely be rolling out to other areas in the coming months. Meanwhile, this feature has been available to Xbox users for quite some time. Why
