In July last year, a portable display for the Xbox Series S reached its Kickstarter funding goal in just 20 minutes, and now the finished display is almost ready to ship.
The Kickstarter for the xScreen by UPspec Gaming promised an 11.6-inch 1080p IPS panel with a 60Hz refresh rate and integrated speakers for sound. The display weighs 695 grams, attaches directly to the back of the Series S, and folds down when not in use (functioning just like a laptop screen). You'll still need to be near a power outlet to plug the Series S console in, but that's the only required cable and no ports are blocked when the xScreen is attached.
In an update to the Kickstarter campaign, UPspec confirmed production of the final display is now complete and anyone who backed the project will see their xScreen picked up by couriers starting Feb. 25. Meanwhile, new customers can order the xScreen directly from UPSpec's website for $250, with shipping time also listed as late February.
As well as the launch trailer included above, UPspec released a video showing the complete assembly process and testing procedure for the xScreen. It's also worth noting that the Xbox Series S can be positioned vertically and the xScreen still works. This is also demonstrated in the trailer above.
