Ahead of the release of the Series X/S, Xbox boss Phil Spencer stressed the importance of a global launch, and said prior to the console's release that the firm intends to do "a much better job" reaching players in Japan.
For the first time in the console's history, Microsoft launched the Xbox Series X/S in Japan on the same day as the console's western launch. It also launched Xbox Cloud Gaming in the country back in September.
The console still lags behind Nintendo and Sony in terms of sales; the Switch has sold over 20 million units in Japan since its 2017 launch, while the PS5 has crossed the one million milestone.
