As important as it is to fill outXbox Game Pass' library with older titles, the service's Day One releases are equally necessary to its success. To that point, Xbox Game Pass subscribers are in luck as Microsoft has added a new Day One release to the service today, and it may not be what players are expecting.
A perk of Xbox Game Pass is that usually there are more games coming than there are going. In January 2022, Xbox Game Pass has received numerous new additions, with notable releases of older titles like Death's Door and the entire Hitman Trilogy, and new Day One games like Rainbow Six Extraction. That isn't to say that Xbox Game Pass didn't lose some titles in January, with games like PUBG: Battlegrounds and Kingdom Hearts 3 exiting earlier this month.

The new Day One release on Xbox Game Pass is Taiko no Tatsujin: The Drum Master on both Xbox and PC.Taiko no Tatsujin is a music/rhythm game where players time hits on a drum (or controller) to beats as they scroll from right to left on screen. The Drum Master includes over 70 songs ranging from today's biggest hits, to video game and anime-inspired tracks. Taiko no Tatsujin has typically been more popular in Japan, but as of late, the series has grown in popularity around the world.
For many years, Taiko no Tatsujin hasn't appeared in the United States, with it not being until the series' last major release that it returned. Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythmic Adventure Pack released on the Nintendo Switch in 2020, bringing the classic drumming gameplay stateside along with a host of new modes and features.
