Xbox Continues To Outsell PlayStation In Japan Amidst Supply Chain Problems
Xbox Series X|S has been outselling the PS5 in Japan this week amidst ongoing supply chain problems. Microsoft has apparently been faring better than Sony when it comes to putting consoles on store shelves in the country.
The news comes from a recent report by Famitsu. According to the sales figures, Microsoft managed to move 3,272 and 3,423 units of the Xbox Series X and S this past week, respectively. This represents more than twice as many consoles than Sony was able to sell during the same period. The company moved only 2,371 units of the PS5.

The sales data however does not suggest that Microsoft will be overtaking Sony in terms of market share at any point in the near future. The poor performance of the PS5 with respect to the Xbox Series X|S reveals the gravity of the supply chain issues with which Sony has been forced to contend. The company has currently sold over 1.6 million units of the PS5 in Japan. Microsoft on the other hand has moved only 232,000 units of the Xbox Series X|S.
This represents the second time in recent memory that Microsoft has outperformed Sony in Japan. While its competitor was only able to sell about 2,690 units of the PS5, the manufacturer managed to sell over 6,200 units of the Xbos Series X|S back in May. The previous time that Microsoft managed to outstrip Sony in terms of sales figures in the country was shortly after the Xbox One launched in 2014.
