Heralding a new era of connectivity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched 5G services in India today at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi during the sixth edition of the India Mobile Congress. India is the second-largest telecom market in the world after China, and now 5G services will benefit around 98 percent of the population who already have access to telecom via mobile phones. “Today, 130 crore Indians are getting a wonderful gift in the form of 5G from the country and from the telecom industry of the country. 5G is a knock on the doors of a new era in the country. 5G is the beginning of an infinite sky of opportunities. I congratulate every Indian for this," PM Modi said during the event.
Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani, Bharti Enterprise Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal, and Aditya Birla Group chief Kumar Mangalam Birla expressed their positive views on the 5G launch in India. Notably, the fifth generation of wireless technology will provide higher speed, lower latency and greater capacity than 4G LTE networks, but there are way bigger impacts of 5G services in India.
