William Shatner pays tribute to his late Star Trekco-star Leonard Nimoy on the 7th anniversary of his passing. The Star Trek franchise has come a long way since it began in 1966, with three live-action shows set to air this year and a fourth movie starring Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto now in development. And that's just scratching the surface. At the same time, Star Trek fans know all this wouldn't be possible without the very people who helped bring it to life decades ago. Gene Roddenberry created Star Trek, but it was those like Shatner and Nimoy who were its faces for so long.
In playing the half-human half-Vulcan Spock, Nimoy touched a generation of fans who were looking for someone to represent them. Nimoy played Spock throughout all three seasons of Star Trek: The Original Series before going on to appear in several films set within the franchise as well. He even directed two of the movies: Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. Before his passing in 2015, Nimoy's final onscreen appearance came in the 2013 Kelvin timeline movie Star Trek Into Darkness; its sequel, Star Trek Beyond, was dedicated in part to him.

February 27 is the anniversary of Nimoy's death, and the day hasn't gone by unrecognized. Shatner, who played the Kirk to Nimoy's Spock, honored his late co-star in a sweet social media post. He shared a picture of himself and Nimoy from years ago and kept his caption short, sweet, and punctuated with a heart: "Leonard. 3/26/31 -2/27/15." You can see the simple, but heartfelt tribute down below.
