Horror movie fans often count Scream as their most favorite film from the genre, and it was super exciting to check out Scream (2022), the first movie in the franchise since 2011's Scream 4. Fans will never complain about revisiting Woodsboro, Ghostface, and amazing characters like Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) and Dewey Riley (David Arquette). But the recent news that Scream 6 is definitely happening and Courteney Cox is coming back as her famous character Gale Weathers does bring up a good question: is Scream 6 necessary?
While horror fans are never going to miss a new Scream film and it does seem like this popular franchise could continue on for several more films, as the demand is always going to be there, there are many reasons why Scream 6 might be a bad idea.

Scream (2022) is a «requel» and explores the idea of making a new horror movie when an existing, beloved franchise has been around for a long time. But when the franchise returns for its latest installation, what will the story be? The new characters? The new killer (or killers) and motive? It's a lot of fun getting to know Tara Carpenter (Jenna Ortega) who is definitely one of thebest horror movie main characters. Tara's ability to go after Ghostface, deal with the threat amongst her group of friends, and bond with her older sister Sam (Melissa Barrera) is incredible. But the movie wraps up the story by the final credits, making fans wonder what plot could be explored and who the new Ghostface could be in Scream 6.
