To the surprise of fans, the Academy section of the story takes only three chapters to complete, with the two-year time skip occurring between Chapter 3 and Chapter 4. Because of the political and military issues occurring throughout the country of Fodlan, Archbishop Rhea, leader of the Church of Seiros, shuts down the Officer's Academy after the students have been enrolled for only a month or two. From there, the Scarlet Blaze, Azure Gleam, and Golden Wildfire routes take place separately in the Adrestian Empire, Holy Kingdom of Faerghus, and Leicester Alliance respectively. Although unexpected, this was ultimately a good choice for Three Hopes to make for a number of reasons.
