Whoa! New Apple iPad gets USB-C, modern design but price is a shocker

There is a new iPad in town and it has got lots of new things. A new chipset, a new design, a bigger display, new colours, and a new sticker price that is substantially more expensive than the iPad 9th Gen. Apple simply calls it the iPad, and lists it as the 10th Generation iPad. You can pre-order it right now and deliveries will begin starting October 28. Apple also continues to sell the previous 9th Gen iPad as its cheapest model in the iPad lineup.

The new iPad comes in both Wi-Fi only and Cellular variants, and in two storage variants. The base variant with 64GB costs Rs. 44,900, if you opt for the Wi-Fi variant. The Wi-Fi + Cellular variant will set you back by Rs. 59,900. Those seeking more storage can opt for the 256GB variant that costs ₹59,900 for the base Wi-Fi variant and Rs. 74900 for the Cellular variant. The new iPad comes in Blue, Pink, Silver, and Yellow colours.

The new iPad 10th Generation is more similar to the iPad Air 5th Gen, except for a couple of things. As is the tradition, the base iPad is using Apple's A series chips from the iPhone, and it is the A14 Bionic that is chosen for the job. This is the same chip that powers the iPhone 12 and it brings support for 5G networks as well.

The design is in-line with the rest of the iPad lineup now – uniform narrow bezels around the display, FaceTime camera on the horizontal side, and the boxy shape with flat sides. The display is now 10.9-inches and uses a 60Hz Liquid Retina (LCD) display. Touch ID now moves to the power button, just like the iPad Air, and that means there is no Home button.
