Andy Serkis is portraying a character in the new Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate — Daemonhunters. Serkis, best known for his role as Smeagol/Gollum in the Lord of the Rings and Ulysses Klaue in Marvel's Black Panther, will be stepping in to do voiceover work for Vardan Kai, a Grey Knights Space Marine grand master. The news was announced by publisher Frontier Foundry and confirmed in several interviews leading up to the game's release date of May 5, 2022.
Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate — Daemonhunters is actually an update to the original Chaos Gate released in 1998. Daemonhunters features turn-based tactical RPG combat reminiscent of XCOM and is set in the grimdark far future of Warhammer 40K. Players will step into the roles of the Grey Knights, a chapter of Space Marines with potent psionic abilities tasked with protecting the known galaxy from the threats of the Ruinous Powers. Fresh off a campaign against the blood god Khorne, the Grey Knights are forced into another campaign despite their diminished supplies and weaponry, this time against the pestilent forces of the plague god Nurgle.

The player will resume the role of an anonymous Grey Knight but that does not mean there will not be a wealth of storytelling and characters to populate the world. In the efforts to stop the daemons of Nurgle and maintain peace in their sector of the galaxy, players will have to interact with NPCs, each with their own agendas and motives for helping the player.
