Season of the Haunted has arrived in Destiny 2, bringing a slew of new Triumphs for players to complete and powerful Nightmares to hunt down, one of which is the Nightmare of Qalec, the Sniper. Guardians can travel to the Derelict Leviathan and unravel the mysteries surrounding Calus's corruption. For the first time, Nightmares can be found outside of the Moon and have received a significant power boost. Luckily, players can take on these threats with other Guardians as they roam around and complete challenges. One of the more hidden seasonal Triumphs is called Drainage, which requires the Nightmare of Qalec, the Sniper's defeat.
Guardians that did not experience the story in Destiny 2's Season the Chosen may be unaware of the identity of their target. Qalec played a short but prominent role in the climax of the narrative. After the defeat of Caiatl's Chosen in the Rite of Proving, the treaty between the Cabal Empire and Humanity was formed. However, Qalec conspired with Valir, another Psion, to assassinate Zavala at the ceremony. Qalec used his sniper rifle to disable the Ghost of the unaware Vanguard Commander. Unfortunately for the Psions, the fatal blow was thwarted by Crow's interception. Both enemies were then killed by Caiatl for their betrayal. The Nightmare of Qalec, the Sniper, was later created as Emperor Calus revived the Psion.

Players must travel to the Derelict Leviathan and make their way to the Royal Pools. The Nightmare of Qalec is located in a Haunted Alcove, inside a corrupted passage, at the back right corner of the area.
