For new players of deckbuilding RPG Gordian Quest, the Cleric class is one of the easiest ways to get sunk into the game proper. Gordian Quest officially left early access earlier this week, with players now able to enjoy a 15–30-hour long campaign heavily inspired by classic tabletop games such as Dungeons and Dragons. However, for those players unfamiliar with deckbuilding games or classic fantasy, choosing from Gordian Quest’s ten different characters and building a well-balanced party can be intimidating. The versatile Cleric class is an excellent choice for players just starting to explore Gordian Quest’s combination of D&D and card-based combat.
For the unfamiliar, Gordian Quest features a mashup between the deckbuilding card combat of games such as Slay the Spire with the character classes and dice-rolling stat checks of D&D. Players can build a party from the ten characters on offer, each of which has several potential builds and stacks of ability cards to devastate their enemies, or defend, buff, and heal their fellow adventurers. The game has generated plenty of positive buzz and despite drawing heavily on D&D for inspiration, it remains highly accessible, thanks to Gordian Quest’s excellent character picks forD&D initiates.
