Your WhatsApp group chat experience is going to change! The Meta-owned instant messaging app is looking to add a new feature. This will show the profile photos of group participants for some iOS beta testers, the WhatsApp updates tracking portal WabetaInfo reported. This will help to identify the group members easily while chatting in large groups on an iPhone. It will be especially beneficial to help recognize other participants that have similar names.
"We announced that WhatsApp was working on bringing profile photos of group participants next to their chat bubbles. The feature was under development on that update and we posted similar information for the WhatsApp Desktop beta yesterday. Finally, WhatsApp is releasing this feature to some beta testers that install the latest version of WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app,” the report further added.
But how iOS beta users will know if the feature is available for them right or not? WabetaInfo has informed that ‘the best way to discover if the feature is enabled for your account is to open a group.' In case, if any participant has an empty profile photo or is hidden due to privacy settings, then the profile photo will be tinted by using the same colour as the contact name.
The report informs that the view profile photos of group participants are available to some beta testers of iOS, and it is rolling out to more beta testers over the coming weeks.
