In July 2022 it was announced that a new game inspired by the RoboCopfranchise, RoboCop: Rogue City, will be releasing in June 2023, and it gets extra credibility by featuring the original RoboCop's actor. True to the series' action-heavy tone, the game will be a first-person shooter, though RoboCop: Rogue City will reportedly also be sprinkled with a hefty dose of exploration opportunities and even multiple-choice dialogue, allowing players to fully step into the shoes of the titular character. On hand to lend more life to the protagonist is a familiar actor that long-time fans of the RoboCop series will recognize.
The first gameplay reveal ofRoboCop: Rogue City was released on July 7, although the project was initially announced in 2021. Though short, it does provide a good look at the game's setting and premise. Based in Detroit, the Rogue City version of which is marked by dark, dilapidated environments full of graffiti and neon lights, players have a variety of weapons at their disposal to shoot their way through corruption and chaos in a gory spectacle. The power of choosing how to handle each scenario is put in the hands of the player, but the trailer hints at an overarching story that will likely help drive things.

Of course, RoboCop: Rogue City is not the only video game inspired by the RoboCop franchise. The first was an arcade game that released in 1988, just a year after the original movie. From there the series has spanned various gameplay styles, from side-scrollers to other first-person shooters.
